OMG EGREMNI BEACH ❤ACCESSIBLE AGAIN BY FOOT
Breaking news: “The most bluest beach in the world opens again next summer in 2020 for pedestrians”. Egremni beach is again accessible by foot. In particular its big long stair will be completed by February 2020. So after this it won’t be necessary to visit the wild virgin beach only by boat. Moreover there will be a parking area above the beach like the one in Porto Katsiki, another stunning beach of Lefkas. So great news, Egremni beach accessibility for pedestrians will be in the headline news of the world tourism in February 2020. But most important is that Lefkas will have except Milos beach one more unspoilt beach to be proud of. And you one more reason to visit Lefkada, the island of turquoise waters!
A BIG EARTHQUAKE A BIG BEACH LOST ACCESS
It was back on 2015 November 17 when a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Lefkada island to the south. In particular, all the 320 stairs leading to the beach collapsed together with a big part of the road. Also a church and some old stone houses mainly in Athani, a village near the epicentre of that earthquake had collapsed. Without doubt Lefkada was in headline world news that time not only due to the damages of that big earthquake but also for the loss of its stunning Egremni beach. In other words it took four years to complete all the construction works needed to restore the access of the bluest beach in the world. Better late than never. After all, nature had restored the beach almost one year after the shock. Waves and storms washed away all the landslide materials in the sea. And it’s this material that gives this stunning turquoise colour to the sea of the wild west coast of Lefkada.
