A legend of the seas, the private motor yacht “CHRISTINA O.” that once belonged to the Greek shipowner tycoon Aristotle Onassis is back on celebrity cruises in Mediterranean. She served in World War II as a convoy escort frigate and was present at the Normandy landings. After the war Onassis bought her at scrap value for only 34.000 US dollars!! However, he spent 4 million US dollars to convert her into a luxury superyacht and named her CHRISTINA O. after his daughter’s birth. Her unique decoration and her modern equipment was quite innovative for that period. However, after Onassis death his daughter, Christina, donated her to the Greek Government. Finally, because of a high cost maintenance she was decommissioned.
