Greece Second in the World in Blue Flag Beaches for 2020
Again Greece ranks second in the world for 2020 in blue flag beaches. With almost 500 blue flag beaches, Greece comes second among 47 countries. And the same 7 magnificent beaches in Lefkada keep again in 2020 their blue flags. In particular, these beaches should comply with all the 33 criteria of the Blue flag program. Read them here. Of course all these have to do with the cleanliness of the sea and the beach. Other criteria concern the facilities and the safety of the visitor and the environmental protection and awareness. After all, in the past, most of the travellers were looking for a safe, well organised beach for all the family members to enjoy let alone now during the COVID19 pandemic.
The 7 magnificent beaches in Lefkada with blue flags
No doubt Lefkada is the island of epic beaches and the ideal destination for beach and water sport vacations. With so many wild, long and wide beaches the island is a heaven on earth for beach lovers!
However, in case of travelling with the family it’s wise to choose a beach that combines fun and safety. And a Blue flag on the beach certifies exactly this. In addition, Gyra, Ai Giannis (Agios Ioannis), Pefkoulia and Kathisma are 4 of the 7 beaches with blue flags which are close to the capital’s hospital. The rest of them, Porto Katsiki, Ponti and Mikros Yalos are close to towns which have adequate first aid health facilities. In any case, a lifeguard with a first aid kit is always on duty on a blue flag beach during the daylight. Also public bins, public toilets and changing rooms are available on these beaches. Finally quite a few beachfront restaurants and canteens offer local specialties.
With all that said, this year Lefkada becomes an ideal destination for safe, beach vacations. A Greek island with stunning beaches which has access by car!!
Welcome in Lefkada. The island of turquoise waters!!
Looking forward to hosting you in LEFKASEABNB on Agios Ioannis Blue flag beach!
